Magazine Subscription Review

Ordered 2 subscriptions of bbq magazine for friends. Took our money. No notice at all that they quit publishing magazine. How do I get my money back when all email addresses in magazine are invalid. All numbers I call are either non working or leave a voicemail no one returns.

Paid money for ad that has not been published as promised

After a call from this company in November 2012 I agreed to pay them a fee to put my advert into their brochure that would go into the Bham city council offices I set up a direct debit to pay them a deposit and two further payments this they said would cover my advert for two years and my advert would be in for March I then set up some art work and was told in an email it will be going to press this was at the beg of Feb 2013. I emailed them and called them at the end of Feb eventually they told me that Bham city council was messing about and they did not know when the ad was going in their hands were tied I also found out they were taking another payment from my bank so I cancelled that, I then sent them an email asking for my money back and to remind them we had no written contract their reply was we have a verbal contract and it is legally binding and my ad is going into the brochure,I am now in the process of trying to get my money back from what I can see on the reviews many others have had similar problems with them they are a company to be avoided in my opinion

Hi

The same thing happened to us. We were promised that the ad would be live from September 2012. I paid £600 in 4 installments. I have not been sent a brief from my ad until December after many requests. When i told them i would need my money back i was told that i was in an agreement, and i would not get my money back.

I have sent numerous emails to the company, which no one responds to,or when they do all they say is we can not refund you the money.

I have called numerous times, and i'm always told that the managers are in a meeting. Or that they are not in all day. I have been in contact with Joanne McConnell who is the

Head Of Customer Relations. With appalling communication.

Spoke to a man named Ian, who is supposedly the manager.

I was promised a call back by the end of the day. That was 3 weeks ago.

I would never recommend anyone to this company. They are scammers in my view. Please steer clear away from them :( :( :( :( :(

Poor service

took our deposit after sharing with us the support the had from Birmingham city council as the were providing the service that was going into the media pathways this was August last year, we have still not even had the advert concluded and have paid in full one reason or another. But the were very keen to get the rest of our money and kept phoning. I said that we have not even had a draft and 5 months had past. so show me a draft and I would consider the final payment we then got one and I paid but still not had a final version for the web

Next Generation Media

I was in the same situation with this bunch as many others- I had moved house and they still tried to bully me into paying for another two year term. Following a demand for money based on their shady contract terms I wrote a strong letter quoting the many other complaints about this firm and they withdrew the demand and actually offered me free advertising. I just want to say how helpful the forums were in nailing these shysters, and everyone should do the same. Just mention legal action and telling the media and they run a mile. I asked for precise details of what they had done for my money, quoted recent press coverage of dubious auto renewal policies, threatened them with Trading Standards, Watchdog and the Ombudsman and they just crumbled.

Next Generation Media Rolling 'Contract'

I am currently experiencing first hand, the underhand & dishonest business tactics that The NEXT GENERATION MEDIA GROUP use to obtain money. I was approached in May 10 (2 years ago) to advertise the "˜Wake facilities' we offer in our restaurant in our local "˜registration service guide' which I was told, would be supplied to all local registry offices, and that it would be on display to every person registering a death. It took close to 8 months to get the publication printed, And through the past two years I have not had a single phone call regarding the advert I placed. In May This year, I received a invoice to close to £600 for the next two years in this publication, Which I never agreed to, when I contacted Next Generation Media they told me that in very small print in the "˜contract I signed' it stated that unless I gave 12 months written notice, they would automatically re-new my agreement. 1. We were never given a copy of the contract the agent asked us to sign a booking form which he had the top part covered and he said he would send us a copy with the proof. 2. We never received a copy and after many requests they finally sent us a copy 2 months ago, we were stunned to find they had conned us. Their agent knew from day 1 that we would try their publication just once and that is why he covered the top of the "˜booking form' and never left us a copy. We have reported them to Chris Prime at Citizens consumer advice who wants all the information from us and also if any one has a similar story, he would like their details , to put together a case for trading standards, because of the miss selling We have no intention of paying as we feel we have given them adequate notice and feel they have suffered no loss. They offered us a full page for the same fee but I am fed up of big companies conning small business' (as well as not receiving one enquiry) Looking at all the online complaints this company must earn more from hoodwinking rather than providing a good honest service. If any one wishes to discuss, please call me on 01279 73**** Brendan

Next Generation Media Rolling Contract ***

Updated by user Mar 28, 2012

Update on this case:

I\'ve contacted trading standards and the OFT. Both said the terms were unfair and gave me the name of a useful website (www.trustonline.org.uk) to see if this company have ever managed to get any CCJs against anyway. They haven\'t!

Today I have received an email from Next Generation Media Group saying they will terminate the contract immediately and have written off the invoice..... interesting, given that I\'d just contacted trading standards who are investigating the same problem nationally.

I don\'t know if someone has been on the phone to them or if it\'s just coincidence but it just shows that while people like this will use bullying tactics, you should always stand up to them because chances are they will back down.

Original review Mar 26, 2012
I took out a 2 year advert with Next Generation Media for a photography business. The sales pitch was very pushy and he told me they would contact me when it was renewal time and my ad would go on a plasma screen and into a leaflet at the local registry office. There was no leaflet & no reminder! I received an invoice recently for another 2 years payment, but no reminder about renewal - it was automatically renewed. I have now received a threatening letter from Media Credit Management referring to bailiffs and bankruptcy if I don't pay up. According to the OFT website, the terms of their contract look to be classed as unfair (12mths notice required!??) so I will be pursuing this route to cancel the contract. I also decided to do some digging on this company and have discovered loads of other complaints about the same thing and they appear to have a group of companies operating under different names, some of which have gone into administration. Sounds like a right bunch of cowboys from what I can see. I will not be paying them another penny and I hope their other clients will also stand up to them because it's bullying tactics. Watch out for any of the following companies - The Online Group of Companies Ltd, Adzel Ltd, UK Online Ltd because they appear to be the same people from what I can see.

I have had exactly the same problem as described above. I too will NOT be paying them and am prepared to fight it to the last.

Next Generation Media Ltd in Cheshire

We took out a 2year contract with next generation media Ltd based in Cheshire in 2007. For our company to be advertised in the Birmingham Registry Office. They stated "That their systems will provide you with an opportunity of promoting your company, products and services in a visual format on their plasma/LCD screens. But to our surprise, we have never ever received any calls or enquiries from one single a customer. We forked out 800.00 for this rubbish advertisement and now they have the audacity to tell us that because we did not cancel the contract in the first 12months we have being rolled over for another 3/4 contract. When we contacted all the other companies to our surprise again we fund out that they themselves never received any calls from their adverts and some of them paid up-to 2,000.00. SO THIS IS A WARNING TO ALL BUSINESS IN THE UK, DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS COMPANY "Next Generation Media Ltd". It will cost you very dearly and make another company RICH!
